DAY 1: Welcoming, Briefing and site clearance

It was early Monday morning. We arrived on site in Vlakkeland, Paarl. We were briefed on safety and tasks to do by Lawula Representative and Blue Moon Projects. we were then divided into two groups one that will work in existing houses and one in outside construction site. The weather conditions were not pleasing and it was raining frequently, however, we were provided with plastic coats for the rain so we worked and completed the task. We proceeded to sites and we were instructed to clear any obstructing objects like broken bricks, rubble and rubbish on site also to pack the bricks that were scattered on site neatly in bulks. We used wheelbarrows, spades and brooms to sweep the sand that was brought in to the road by rain to prevent it from blocking the drain on the side of the road. To clear the whole site, We identified two locations to put rubble. Two locations were also,

identified in order to put all the good blocks. Digging up and removing rubbish, debris and vegetation took the whole day. The first day was challenging but we got through it together as a team.
