The September Community Build 2022

Team November had four members, Thabang Pule the team leader, Khali Mahlangu the deputy team leader, Ndumiso Dumakude, and Portia Chibase. We were split into groups and merged with other teams hence we did some tasks together and others we did not do as a team. Regardless we all learnt the same lessons, in a span of a week we learnt to clear a site in preparation to set out, setting out based on architectural and engineering plans. We further gained experience in excavating, building scaffolding, and using a jack hammer to break a screed. Although the experience was fun and educational, we faced challenges that we solved as a team. We put the knowledge we gained from construction technology into action and along the way we learnt more about the construction process and the amount of work put into creating the final product. As a team we created new relationships amongst ourselves and others. The overall take away from this experience is that we enjoyed ourselves whilst getting to feel how the workplace will be like.
